In Memoriam: Bonnie Cohen

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved friend and dear coworker, Bonnie Cohen, of our Brigantine Branch on April 13, 2020.

Bonnie was full of fun and a pure joy to work alongside. She had the biggest heart to all that she encountered, and a sparkle that certainly will be missed.

Bonnie’s light shone brightest when she held her weekly “Storytime with Miss Bonnie” at the Brigantine Branch over the past 9 years. She brought children on an awesome adventure once she opened a book. Her love of interactive storytelling, matched with the curiosity of kids, equaled a memorable and spirited experience for all. She set such a high standards with her commitment to children’s and storytime programs that kids and parents alike flocked to her narratives.

Her contributions to the Brigantine Branch are immeasurable and we will be forever guided by her influence.

Donations can be made to the Atlantic County Library Foundation, Brigantine Branch, in honor and memory of Bonnie Cohen and "Storytime with Miss Bonnie." Atlantic County Library Foundation, 40 Farragut Ave., Mays Landing, NJ 08330.

Axis eBooks

To provide our patrons with reading options, the Atlantic County Library System has 2 eCollections: OverDrive and Axis 360.

As part of the South Jersey Regional Library Cooperation we share OverDrive eBooks & eAudiobooks with libraries throughout the area. Axis 360, however, is available only for ACLS patrons and includes many unique eBook titles and much shorter wait times.

To read Axis 360 titles, download the free app on your mobile device from the appropriate app store. You can search for titles directly from the Axis 360 app or via our online catalog and the ACLS Mobile App.

In both the catalog and ACLS Mobile App, narrow your search to eBooks only by selecting Digital Catalog. Axis 360 titles are identified as Baker & Taylor in the Collection field. From either of these interfaces, you are also able to place holds or check out titles based on availability.  Keep in mind, checking out a title is not the same as downloading it. Go to “My Stuff” on the Axis 360 app to download and read your checkout.

Go to the short tutorials found on the right side of this webpage for instructions on how to use the Axis 360 app or our catalog .

Have you tried Axis 360 today?

Legal Lookup

With support from the New Jersey State Library, Atlantic County Library System provides our patrons with access to the Legal Information Reference Center.  This resource provides detailed how-to instructions and forms addressing a wide range of legal issues, including family affairs, businesses and corporations, property and real estate, wills and estates, immigration, and court proceedings. In addition to reading full-text versions of Nolo legal guides written for laypeople, users can search for downloadable legal forms by state (although for the most up-to-date forms, users are directed to the various state courts’ websites).

Anyone can search this site using library computers. Just select the Databases & Research page from the library’s homepage on the drop-down menu labeled Resources. ACLS library card holders can access the database remotely.

Because Reading Together Is Better

Join a nationwide reading experience.

The Atlantic County Library System is joining public libraries nationwide in a new digital reading program, the Libraries Transform Book Pick, which offers access to the same eBook for a two-week period. The first eBook selection is the newly released title “After the Flood” by Kassandra Montag, published by William Morrow, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers.

“After the Flood” will be available Oct. 7—21, 2019 through our Overdrive eBook and eAudiobook Collection. Readers will only need a library card and the Libby app to download a free copy of the ebook to their device. There will be no waitlists or holds for the title.

Libraries transform lives every day by advancing literacy and fostering a love of reading. The Atlantic County Library System provides resources and programs to engage readers of all levels, including a diverse materials collection, digital media, online databases, book clubs, storytimes, and community programming.
