Art with Heart

Egg Harbor City may be the smallest branch in the Atlantic County Library System but we have a big heart for our community and our local talent. Currently, we are honored to showcase the beautiful and unique art work of Tom Peterson and Ann Fox. Both are long time patrons and Egg Harbor City residents who have generously donated pieces for exhibit.

Service station owner Tom Peterson imaginatively uses car parts and scrap metal as well as everyday metal objects for his sculptures.

Tom’s Lady Liberty is fashioned with forks, nuts, bolts, washers, screws and even a rivet from the Ben Franklin Bridge. For Magic Tree House, car exhaust shields, bicycle chains, muffler clamps, and other scrap metals come together to create magical quality.

When not focused on her art, Ann Fox enjoys sewing, baking (often treating the Egg Harbor City book club), and walking around  her  working Cranberry Farm. Ann's pencil drawing illustrates her appreciation for detail as well as libraries and the pursuit of knowledge through reading.

We invite you to come by to peruse their art and our shelves.

Federal Employee Assistance

Federal workers, families and businesses across Atlantic County have been financially and emotionally affected by the Government shutdown.  As a consequence, many local business, utility companies, large corporations as well as charity organizations are doing what they can to ease the burden and stress that has been caused.

While we are happy a temporary agreement has been reached to reopen Federal services, assistance may still be needed until folks can get themselves back on their feet.

To this end, the Atlantic County Library System will continue waiving library fines for Federal employees and contractors until at least February 15, 2019. Those affected can show their employee IDs at their local branch to get a fresh start. We welcome you to check out books, movies, and music as well as use our public computers and other services for some relief during this difficult time.

Our Catalog is E-ven Better

The Atlantic County Library System has two collections for our eBooks and eAudiobooks resources – OverDrive and Axis 360.  Some book titles are available in both platforms and some in just one or the other. Wouldn't the ability to search both our online collections in one place help save you time and reduce the chance of missing a great read? Well now you can.

Users of Atlantic County Library System's online catalog can now search both our e-Collections for availability. Even better, ACLS cardholders can place a hold or checkout a title directly from the catalog.

Reading an eBook, or listening to an eAudiobook, will still require downloading it to a PC or mobile device once it is checked out – a message will instruct the user to do that. For instructions on how to use these new features read our tutorial "ACLS Online Catalog ."

Library Wrappings

Christmas is coming early to the Egg Harbor Township branch of the Atlantic County Library System.

Beginning December 13, 2018, the EHT branch will receive a new circulation desk and information/reference desk as well as replacement floor tiles. Inclement weather has caused a shipping delay of some of the furniture. As a result, installation of the new circulation desk and completion been pushed back to February 13.

The library will remain open during construction though visitors will need to enter the library from the side entrance and may experience some noise during construction. Noise may also be responsible for some phone calls not be answered. If you are having trouble reaching EHT by phone, please try another ACLS Branch who can answer your questions as well as assist you with renewals and placing holds.

Our staff will do everything to ensure it is an easy process for everyone. “These new improvements will make a visit to the Egg Harbor Township branch an even more enjoyable experience. We welcome the public to stop in to see them for themselves and to take advantage of the many services and programs we provide, free of charge, from toddlers to seniors,” said Gair Helfrich, Atlantic County Library System Director.
