Blooming Beautiful

Two Atlantic County Library System Gardens Named
2018 “Gardens of Distinction” by Pennsylvania Horticultural Society

The Mays Landing and Egg Harbor Township branches each received 2018 Garden of Distinction recognition by the Philadelphia-based Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. Both library branches were entered in this year’s Gardening and Greening Contest which recognizes the achievements of gardeners in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.

Got Bags

On October 1, 2018 Ventnor City’s Plastic Bag Fee Ordinance went into effect making it the second municipality in Atlantic County, after Longport, to do so. Atlantic County Officials are also seeking to prohibit single-use bags and straws in County parks.

In support of these measures and to promote environmental awareness, the Atlantic County Library System is also going green by offering patrons an opportunity to purchase a reusable tote bag branches to transport library materials. The bags will be available to the public at any of our branches for a non-profit cost of $2.00 each.

Do your environment good by using them at the library and around town in place of single-use plastic bags.  It will also be a great reminder to stop by your local Atlantic County Library System branch and refill your bag with more great reads, music CDs and, family entertainment.

Sign Up and Check Us Out

As students prepare to head back to school, there is one essential school supply that requires no shopping and doesn't cost a penny – a library card.

This September, the Atlantic County Library System is joining with the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries nationwide in promoting Library Card Sign-up Month. We encourage parents, caregivers and students to obtain a free library card that will save them money while reaping rewards in academic achievement and lifelong learning. A library card provides endless opportunities to transform the school year, lives, and the community through education.

Whether it’s providing free access to books, programs, educational apps, homework help, digital media, or 24/7 online databases and resources, a library card is one of the most cost effective back-to-school supplies. Libraries play an important role in the education and development of children. Studies show children who are read to in the home and who use the library perform better in school and are more likely to continue to use the library as a source of lifetime learning.

For more information about how to sign up for a library card, please visit any of our branches in person or read this.

We Have Fax

The Atlantic County Library System is excited to now offer fax services via FaxScan24 Self-Service Kiosks. These kiosks are currently located at our Egg Harbor Township, Galloway Township, Mays Landing, and Ventnor branches. Our remaining branches are expected have their own public fax machines available soon.

FaxScan24 public fax machines are user-friendly with clear simple instructions as well as voice prompting assistance. Payment for the service is made with a credit or debit card. From the website www.faxscan24.com, users can check the status of their fax, resend the fax for free, and can send the document to their email at no extra charge.
