It’s August 1983 and the night of the annual
end-of-summer party in Malibu hosted by the four famous Riva siblings: Nina,
the surfer and supermodel; Jay, the championship surfer; Hud, the renowned
surfing photographer; and Kit, a surfer and the baby sister. The party is the
most anticipated event of the year. But unbeknownst to all, this year’s party
will be explosive: alcohol, drugs, music, Hollywood stars behaving badly and,
by the following morning, the house will be in flames and lives will be changed
forever.
Moving back and forth between decades and
story lines, Malibu Rising brings us the story of the Riva family
beginning with Mick Riva, the legendary singer. It follows his marriage to his
wife June and the coming-of-age of the Riva children in Malibu. Interspersed
with the family story is the countdown to the party, setting up the secrets
that will be revealed. And then the unforgettable night is underway!
Malibu Rising is a page turner! I stayed
up much too late reading, wanting to know what would happen next. Don’t miss
it!
