State of Terror
UnCovered review by Christine Szymanski, ACLS Somers Point Branch
A new administration has been sworn in, and Ellen Adams has been appointed as the new Secretary of State. After decades of building and running an international media empire, Ellen now finds herself in a position to rebuild bridges and mend relationships with allies or serve warnings to unfriendly nations. The problem – the President and the Secretary of State do not like or trust each other.
However, soon terror strikes in London, Paris, and Frankfort force the new Secretary of State to try to figure out what has happened and what will happen next. This begins a pulse-pounding race against time to get to the bottom of a terrorist conspiracy, which may be closer to home than anyone could have imagined.
Louise Penny is one of my favorite authors. If you have not already read her Three Pines series, I highly recommend you start with Still Life and go on from there. I was very excited about the publication of State of Terror and am happy to say Louise did not disappoint! With Hillary bringing her insider expertise to the story, State of Terror is a page-turner. I was left with a scary thought – what if?! I thoroughly enjoyed State of Terror and think you will too.
