Temporary Online Applications

Temporary ACLS cards give users access to digital media and databases only.

To receive your permanent card, visit the preferred branch chosen on your application with the appropriate identification and documentation as described below. Any cards not picked up within 60 days of applicant being notified will be deactivated.

Apply for a temporary 60 day library card using our online form. ACLS staff will contact you within a few days with account information.

Library privileges expire annually. Accounts are easily renewed by visiting any Atlantic County Library System branch and showing current ID and proof of residency.


Who is Eligible:

Accepted forms of identification and proofs of residency.

  • All Atlantic County Residents
    • Current ID and proof of address.
      There is no minimum age to join. Children 13 and under must have a parent or legal guardian’s permission.
  • Employees of Atlantic County Government
    • Must present current County Government ID and ID with current address.
  • Current Students and Faculty of Atlantic County Schools
    • This includes public, charter, parochial, and private schools as well as colleges. Nonresidents need to show a school ID and/or ID with current address. The expiration date of the ID or one year will be used as the library card’s expiration date.
  • Current Members of the Military
    • Must present military ID and ID with current address.
  • Current Employees of Atlantic County Businesses
    • Must show current employee ID and/or ID with current address.
  • County Property Owners
    • If a patron does not live in a member municipality, but owns a business or property in a member municipality, he/she is eligible for a free library card. The patron must present a current tax bill showing the property address and block/lot numbers. An applicant must also present a valid driver’s license with their home address if the property is not their actual residence.
  • Members of county library systems that have reciprocal agreements with Atlantic County Library System. The individual must have a library card with one of the following reciprocal library systems and show proof of residency in a member community of that library system:
    • Burlington County Library  (All communities except Moorestown, Mount Laurel, Willingboro)
    • Camden County Library  (Including the following communities: Audubon Park, Barrington, Bellmawr, Berlin Twp., Brooklawn, Camden, Chesilhurst, Clementon, Gibbsboro, Gloucester Twp., Haddon Twp., Hi Nella, Lawnside, Laurel Springs, Lindenwold, Magnolia, Merchantville, Mt. Ephraim, Oaklyn, Pine Hill, Pine Valley, Somerdale, Tavistock, Voorhees, WinslowTwp., Woodlynne)
    • Cape May County Library  (All communities except Avalon and Ocean City)
    • Gloucester County Library  (Including the following communities: Clayton, Harrison Twp., S. Harrison Twp., E. Greenwich Twp., Logan Twp., Swedesboro, Elk Twp., Mantua Twp., Woodbury Heights, Glassboro, National Park, Woolwich Twp., Greenwich Twp., and Newfield Public Library)

Those who do not meet the above criteria are able to pay a fee to join our library system. We offer a $60 yearly membership, a $25 seasonal membership, which expires four months from registration date, and a $10 one month membership. Purchased memberships can be shared with immediate family members but follow same checkout limits as a single user.
